John Stepper in conversation with Barbara Wietasch

Thanks so much to John Stepper, the founder of the Working Out Loud Movement, who discusses the practice of Working out Loud and its impact on individuals and organizations. It´s so great that John developed Working out Loud which not only encourages people to share their work openly, build supportive relationships, and achieve their personal and professional goals. It is a way to make work more human and cultivate skills such as self-leadership and collaboration. The practice is especially valuable in today’s fast-paced and uncertain work environments, where traditional planning and goal-setting methods may not be effective.

Working out loud circles provide a safe space for individuals to experiment and develop these skills.

After decades of working for “big companies” – think Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley – John Stepper was unhappy. He saw that the majority of his colleagues were too, their potential wasted on the de-humanizing, competitive environment of big business.

John’s own need for autonomy and dialogue led him to develop Working Out Loud a work model based on collective knowledge, contributing to the community, and the purposeful cultivation of opportunities.

His goal: to tap into the superpower that is generosity and shared purpose.

Enjoy listening!
